Rebekah Macauley & James Spencer

My fiance James had been planning his idea of a perfect proposal for many months before he popped the question. He romantically planned it to occur on our second aniversary of our first kiss, to which I was surprised he remembered.
James actually had to make 2 perfect proposals, firstly he planned an elaborate amazing race style proposal around our home city, getting all of our friends and family involved in the adventurous romantic journey which was due to finish where our first kiss took place. He even went to the extent of organising the finishing mat which said will you marry me, but this was not meant to be.... 4 weeks out from the planned big day, one of our friends had their bucks afternoon and the theme was an amazing race around our home city. Now with that idea already done recently James had to throw out his perfect proposal idea and all the hard work that had gone along with it to come up with a 2nd perfect proposal.
This is where the story really begins, James was an official involved in the local basketball for many years, often with my work I would take a bunch of students down to watch the Geelong Supercats Basketball games, unbeknown to me I would have seen James on many occasions before we actually met for the first time. The week before our second kiss aniversary James mysteriously won two free tickets to the basketball (to which i found out later he had actually organised himself) and instead of a nice dinner in Melbourne convinced me that we hadnt been to the basketball in a long time so we might as well take advantage of the free tickets. So I agreed that a night out at the basketball would be just what we needed.
So the night came about and we arrived to take our seats, the game began and half way through the second quarter we were approached by one of the girls who worked at the centre and asked if we would like to participate in a three legged race with a chance to win a small prize. Surprise Surprise James was eager to participate but he wasnt the one who hated getting up infront of even friends let alone a crowd of 1-2 thousand people. Even though James new I hated crowds he was extremely insistent that we participate in the event, so reluctantly i agreed swearing to kill him after the event and just putting the whole thing down to his competitive nature.
We get down onto the court and line up with 3 other couples ready to go. Then as we all walk out onto the court I realise that it is only James and I on the court the other couples had stayed behind. Before I know it we are met in the centre of the court by the commentator who announces to everyone that a three legged race is infact not taking place and James has something to say. As he hands the microphone to James I see the box.
James gets down on one knee in centre court infront of over 1 thousand people but it seems like it is only him and me there. He speaks into the microphone advising everyone that he wants to show everyone how lucky he is and how beautiful I am, and with all those people as witnesses I hear those magical words "Bek will you marry me?"
He puts the microphone down and opens the ring box takes the ring out and puts it on my finger and then flowers appear out of know where, I realise then the crowd as they are all on thier feet clapping and cheering so loud that the girls that work in the shops outside come in to see what is going on.We left the court took our seats and for the rest of the game were congratulated by both friends and complete strangers.
The next day I went to the local shop to buy the papers as I do each morning, before i even get home my best friend is on the phone telling me to turn to page 5 of the Geelong Advertiser. To my absolute surprise and delieght James had asked the Geelong Advertiser photographer to stay around as there would be something he could report on. I rang James straight away and he acted like he knew nothing but I new he organised it all, but to his surprise he was also called by the local radio station for an interview to be played on the news every hour of that day and also for a second interview for the talkshow segment the day after that.
Although all this publicity that we didnt expect was nice it still could not compare to the amount of effort I new James had put in to create not 1 but 2 perfect proposals. James is my perfect man as I do not know anyone else who would go to that amount of effort for let alone 1 proposal, he wanted to make sure that the proposal was something personal, romantic and that I would never forget. James got me to confront my fears and show me that I am his perfect girl announcing to everyone how beautiful I am and for that I will love him forever always.
