Have I told you about my wedding ring yet? I know you’ve heard plenty about the to-and-fro-ing I went through to find the right design. At long last I have designed the perfect ring and it’s now sitting in its little box hidden away from me by Eben. Our beautiful ring designer, Sam Ryko gave birth to a baby a couple of weeks ago. I don't think she could wait another minute more and, very intelligently, she went ahead and had her child even though I was still fussing in the interim. What I settled on is a ring that is not shockingly modern and not stodgily old fashioned. It's a happy medium that I can see future generations loving. And that is a good thing because this ring is a little over budget and I have to justify this in historic (if not personal) terms. One day, I'll wonder why this decision was so hard for me when I was so resolute about more controversial choices. In so many ways Eben and I are light hearted. We don't want a bridal dance or anything too ritualistic and uptight. Fun and humour gets us through the most awkward spots. BUT when it comes to spending a chunk of change I do feel a certain responsibility to make this ring something to be proud of, on my day and many decades beyond it. And I’m happy to say that this is exactly what it is. Perfect.
