Composition of a Wedding

Kate contemplates the colour choices of her wedding party attire to make sure it doesn't clash with her serene nature setting. Would a purple robe on her celebrant ruin the visual effect of the green trees and her white wedding dress?

Composition of a WeddingLisa Ho

A friend pointed something out to me the other day that I may have overlooked entirely. And that is that a wedding is a visual event designed to be photographed. So, what the people in the bridal party wear actually matters in a historic sense. Picture the scene: groom in bone linen suit, bride in ivory lace and priest in shocking purple and gold modern Christian ceremonial robes. A tiny bit distracting. Last week we met our celebrant, Sarah. She is a gentle and very elegantly dressed lady and she actually asked Eben and I if we had any preferences for her clothes on the day. I have to admit that every celebrant I have seen has worn black, so that was my only comment "Um, no black?" But this leaves the rest of the rainbow off the hook. My sister is wearing a rich turquoise Lisa Ho dress, I have yet to ask Mum the colour of her outfit. I am not out to micro-manage individual style but maybe I will draw the line at purple. A bush wedding creates a dappled background, the combination of natural filtered sunlight and a thousand hues of green will make everything beautiful, but is Mum wearing fuschia? I better ask.
