Wedding planning is very visual. I am constantly tending to the look of things because that is the primary impression of an event. So one rather personal detail probably needs some attention and that is perfume. My bottle of Gucci No 2 is almost empty. I bought this perfume on the trip to Hong Kong where the flame with Eben was lit (will always remember that elevator ride). So, sentimentally speaking I really ought to wear this scent. But for a sense of occasion perhaps I ought to try something new.
How do you buy a perfume for the most important day of your life though? And what will suit the mood? In a bushland setting I puzzle over whether fragrance even matters and ponder the subtle beauty of gum leaves, flowers and the sea. If perfume is all about seduction how does a bride celebrate the culmination of romance in full flower? Maybe I'll be sentimental and wear the Gucci, just to let Eben know (on a subliminal and sensual level) that I remember all the details. Well, all the details that matter to us.
