Not So Squeaky Clean Bride

Kate realises that chocolate and champagne is giving her more of an inner glow than a detoxing cleanse.

The cleanse as I knew it is over. What was I thinking? To cut out white flour, sugar, alcohol, fats and caffeine the week of my exams and less than a month before my wedding in the heart of the party season? Not great. Last week I was so incredibly cranky, just miserable and I put it down to bad timing but in fact it was wrong time to detox!

I had chosen the cleanse for vitality and clarity, but right now there is just too much going on to sustain the discipline of that. The lead up to a wedding is inevitably stressful, but it's also rich with celebration. And even though I usually do an annual cleanse now is not that time. I do not want to be the one in the corner of a swinging party grimly hanging onto to a decaf soy latte. And I don't need to lose weight or get glowing skin. This is not the Oscars!

The idea of a bridal boot camp is a popular one but I think it just adds an unnecessary level of stress if timed too closely to the big day. So, now I am human again. I allow myself a glass of champagne or a bit of chocolate, OK, a lot of chocolate. Life is sweeter when you know just how much you can let go.
