I think a lot of couples find the most agonizing aspect of a wedding involves the speeches. And how many weddings I have been to where the speeches drag or hit a wrong note or just choke on their own embarrassment. Maybe we don't have that problem because Eben and I have plenty of stage practice under our belts (we perform in a band). I mean after you have belted out 'Sex On Fire' by Kings Of Leon to your entire family you can pretty much tackle anything.
Eben concurs that "We're both performers." And he proved that recently when he spoke at his best mates wedding. He was asked to keep it light, but wonders now if he perhaps went just a little too light... I thought he was hilarious though, using an analogy between falling in love and corporate culture. It was a business world take on romance with terms like product leadership and customer intimacy thrown in to explain the finer details.
While I doubt he'll be that stand-up funny on our day, I am ready for anything. Except maybe grabbing the mike and belting out a Kiss song. Though if our drummer had his way we would be a Kiss cover band, now that's wedding I would like to see!
