Stuck Trying To Choose Wedding Ring

Kate & Eben have smooth sailed through most of their planning but choosing the wedding band, with so many boxes to tick, isn't as simple.

Why is it that the most pleasurable things in life can give you the most stress? Eben and I carved through every choice for the wedding with relative ease so far but I am stuck. Stuck, stuck, STUCK on choosing the final design for my wedding ring. It's this thing about being...forever.  And I admit that I am feeling the pressure.

Because the choice of sapphire was in honour of my mother and my grandmother, I have this sense that I am trying to create a cross generational heirloom. Something to be treasured potentially by a granddaughter. And will that girl want some monumental modern statement? Who knows.

Emotion and design, that's what a great ring fuses together. You look at a wedding ring and want to trigger a heart sigh, not a reaction like “That is SO seventies!" And so with one left to choose I am on the fence between an avant garde design and a classic one. And I totally understand why brides choose readymade rings and avoid the Renaissance woman route, because design (like marriage) is a commitment. And when it comes to rings, I'm gun shy.
